Other PPE

If there is a risk of the splashing, spraying, or spattering of blood or other potentially infectious materials that could get in an employee's eyes, nose or mouth, proper personal protective equipment must be worn. This could include masks, goggles, glasses with side shields, chin-length face shields, or other types of facial protection.

Depending on the expected type and amount of exposure, other protective clothing may be required, including gowns, aprons, lab coats, or clinic jackets. Surgical caps or shoe covers may also be required if a procedure has the potential for mass contamination, such as during autopsies or orthopedic surgery.

All personal protective equipment must be removed as soon as feasible after it becomes contaminated. Personal protective equipment must also be removed before leaving the workplace. After removal, it must immediately be placed in a designated container for storage, washing, decontamination, or disposal.
