Compliance Program
When exposures are over the PEL, the STEL, or both, the employer is required to establish and implement a written program to reduce employee exposure to acceptable levels, primarily by means of engineering and work practice controls. The written program should include a schedule for the development and implementation of the engineering and work practice controls. The plans must be reviewed and revised based on the most recent exposure monitoring data.
Upon request, all written compliance program plans must be provided to authorized representatives of the chief administrative officer of the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health, to the director of NIOSH, and to affected employees and their designated representatives.
