Symptoms of Long-term Exposure
For a person exposed to lead over a long period of time (such as a few weeks to a few years), the symptoms of lead poisoning may include the following:
- Abdominal pain
- Anxiety
- Constipation
- Depression
- Distraction
- Dizziness
- Forgetfulness
- High blood pressure
- Insomnia
- Irritability
- Nausea
- Numbness
- Tremors
It may be difficult to attribute these symptoms to lead poisoning. However, workers should always mention them to their employers and seek medical attention. Lead poisoning can cause much more serious health problems, as we will see shortly.
