Symptoms of Long-term Exposure

For a person exposed to cadmium over a long period of time (such as a few weeks to a few years), the symptoms of cadmium poisoning may lead to kidney disease, lung disease, and bone damage. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the National Toxicology Program (NTP) have all classified cadmium as a human carcinogen. A carcinogen is defined as any substance that tends to produce a cancer.
