Overview
The Department of Industrial Relations for California works hand in hand with OSHA, providing guidelines through General Industry Safety Orders to assist with the safe operation of industrial equipment. There are two sets of guidelines applicable to industrial trucks, as follow:
- General Industry Safety Order 3650 Industrial Trucks
- General Industry Safety Order 3664 Operating Rules
Secondary to the stricter California guidelines, OSHA provides a framework for the safe operation of industrial equipment as outlined in 29 CFR 1910.178. Guidelines for Rollover Protective Structures (ROPS) are outlined in OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1003.
