Training Requirements
GISO 3668 outlines training requirements for powered industrial truck operators and includes principles such as:
- Safe operation
- Training program content
- Training program implementation
- Refresher training and evaluation
- Avoidance of duplicative training
- Certification
- Dates
Trained operators must know how to do the job properly and safely, as demonstrated by workplace evaluation.
Training can take the following formats:
- Formal, including lecture and video
- Practical, including demonstration and practical exercises
Employers must certify that each operator has received the training and evaluate each operator at least once every three years.
Prior to operating the truck in the workplace, the employer must evaluate the operator's performance and determine the operator to be competent to operate a powered industrial truck safely.
