Chemical Hazards in Healthcare Settings
Like most workers today, employees in healthcare facilities and related operations are exposed to hazardous chemicals that result from routine cleaning, repair, and maintenance of the facility. Due to the need for sterile environments, healthcare facilities may require stronger disinfectants and other cleaning agents. These chemical products leave behind hazardous residues in the form of dust, mist, fumes, spray, and other substances. All employees who work or spend time in the facility must participate in the facility's respiratory protection program.
