Scheduled Program Evaluations Versus Reevaluation of Hazard Levels
It is important to understand the difference between routine scheduled evaluations and the as-needed reevaluation of the hazard levels at the facility due to changes in substances, processes, procedures, or equipment. The scheduled evaluations of the program are based upon the initial hazard evaluation. Over time, if the program's policies and procedures are working effectively, there is no need to change the policies or procedures. However, if the facility makes changes, the potential for workers to be exposed to respiratory hazards may increase. Thus, such changes require the facility to conduct a reevaluation of the hazard levels at the facility.
