Step 4 - Become Knowledgeable About Respiratory Protection and Its Use
It is important to think of respiratory protection as the last resort after your facility has taken all other measures to eliminate respiratory hazards. Your facility's respiratory protection plan, which may include an ATD Exposure Control Plan, must specify which types of respirators are required by which workers doing which tasks. As we discussed earlier, the ATD standard sets minimum respirator requirements for respirator use based upon the infectious agent and the job tasks in which workers are exposed to the agent.
