Medical Evaluations

Employers must provide a medical evaluation to all employees who must use a respirator to ensure they can use a respirator safely. Some employees may be physically unable to use a respirator, or the use of a respirator may present a particular health risk for the employee. For the employee's safety, this medical evaluation must be done before the employee is fit tested or required to wear a respirator on the job. In this section, we will discuss the medical evaluation procedures, frequency of medical evaluations, and other information related to the required medical evaluations.
