Assessing Credibility
What if there is no other witness and this case is some variation of a "he-said, she-said" scenario? This is quite possible, since many harassers conduct themselves improperly when no one else is around and they consider it "safe" to harass a victim.
In these cases, your ability to assess credibility will be vital. Look for the following, and note it after the meeting:
- Body language
- Tone of voice
- Eye contact
- Language choice (such as using words like "girl" or "chick" instead of "woman")
Take this into consideration when noting the following:
- Consistency and plausibility of the story
- Validity of the story
- Any potential biases
