Employer Information Exchange
Employers of commercial pesticide handlers must make sure that their customer - the operator of the farm, forest, nursery, or greenhouse - is aware of certain information about a pesticide before it is applied so that the operator may protect his or her own employees. This information includes all of the following:
- The specific location and description of the area (or areas) on the agricultural establishment to be treated with the pesticide
- Time and date when the pesticide is scheduled to be applied
- Product name, EPA registration number, and active ingredients
- Restricted-entry interval for the pesticide
- Whether the pesticide label requires that the information be both posted in the treated area and communicated orally
- Any other specific requirements on the pesticide label concerning the protection of workers and other persons during or after the application
Operators of farms, forests, nurseries, and greenhouses are also required to make sure that whenever a commercial handler will be doing pesticide handling tasks on their establishment, the commercial handler's employer is informed of the following:
- The specific location and description of any areas on the agricultural establishment that may be treated with a pesticide or be under a restricted-entry interval while the handler is onsite
- Restrictions on entering these areas
