Introduction to The Worker Protection Standard
The Worker Protection Standard (referred to as the WPS) is a regulation issued by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to reduce the risk of illness and injury resulting from the use of pesticides in the production of agricultural plants on farms, forests, nurseries, and greenhouses.
The WPS requires that all employers of pesticide handlers and agricultural workers who may be exposed to pesticides provide the following information to those employees:
- Information about exposure to pesticides
- Protection against exposure to pesticides
- Ways to mitigate exposure to pesticides
