Posting Warning Signs
Signs should be posted where they can be seen from all points where workers usually enter the treated area. On a farm, forest, or nursery, these points include at least each access road, each border with any labor camp adjacent to the treated area, and each established walking route that enters the treated area. In greenhouses, signs should be posted in doorways, aisles, and other walking routes.
Signs must be posted 24 hours or less before the scheduled application of the pesticide, and remain posted during the application and any restricted-entry interval. The signs should be removed within three days of the end of the application or the end of any restricted-entry interval.
When several adjoining areas are to be treated with pesticides on a rotating or sequential basis, employers may post the entire area at the same time. Worker entry, except for early entry permitted by the WPS, is prohibited for the entire area while the signs are posted.
