Responding to a Pesticide Exposure Emergency

The local phone number to dial for emergency responses must be posted at the workplace and available to you, by law. If you or any of your fellow workers experience unusual or unexplained symptoms at work or later in the day, get medical advice quickly. It is better to be too cautious than too late.

If an exposure occurs, the first thing to do is call the emergency response phone number. Then, while help is on the way, administer first aid to help a victim of pesticide poisoning. As quickly as possible, stop the source of pesticide exposure. Make sure the victim is breathing and is not being further exposed to the pesticide. Do not become exposed to the pesticide yourself while trying to help.
