Restrictions During & After Applications

Worker employers must take steps to protect workers and other individuals during pesticide applications on agricultural establishments. They are required to keep all individuals, except trained and equipped handlers, out of areas being treated with pesticides. During some applications in nurseries and greenhouses, employers are also required to keep workers and other people out of the area immediately around the area being treated, with the size of this zone being determined by the pesticide used and the application method.

In general, workers must be kept out of a treated area during the restricted-entry interval. Exceptions include early entry with no contact with anything that has been treated with the pesticide and early entry with contact for short-term, emergency, or specially excepted tasks.
