When the LLMW Fails to Meet a Conditional Exemption
Low-level mixed waste that is conditionally exempt can lose its exemption status in the following situations:
- The LLMW meets the decay-in-storage criteria as stated in the facility's NRC license or NRC Agreement state license. At this point, the facility can dispose of the LLMW as non-radioactive waste.
- The LLMW that was generated and stored under a single NRC license or NRC Agreement State license is removed from storage.
