Labeling & Marking Universal Waste Mercury-Containing Equipment
Special labeling requirements apply to universal waste mercury-containing equipment. Generally, each universal waste device that contains mercury, or the container that holds the device, must be marked with one of these phrases:
- Universal Waste - Mercury-Containing Equipment
- Waste Mercury-Containing Equipment
- Used Mercury-Containing Equipment
The labeling or marking is slightly different for universal waste mercury-containing thermostats. These devices, or the containers holding only them, must be marked with one of the following phrases:
- Universal Waste - Mercury Thermostat
- Waste Mercury Thermostat
- Used Mercury Thermostat
