Permit Exemptions & Partial Requirements

Some types of TSDFs are exempt from RCRA permitting requirements. In other cases, one part of a process may not require a RCRA permit, but another will.

A specific set of procedures must be completed before the EPA will issue a permit. Components of this process include, for example, public notice, public meetings, and review of the application.

If an applicant cannot meet the requirements for obtaining a standard RCRA operating permit, the situation is likely to require the use of one of the special forms of permits.
