The Emergency Coordinator

At least one employee must always be present at the facility or on-call and able to reach the facility in a short period of time. This individual, known as the emergency coordinator, has the responsibility to coordinate all emergency response efforts. He or she must be completely familiar with all aspects of the contingency plan, the facility operations and activities, and the location and nature of the waste being handled. The emergency coordinator must also know the location of all records and the facility layout, and must possess the authority needed to commit resources to carrying out the various activities of the contingency plan.
