Waste Analysis
Before any hazardous waste is treated, stored, or disposed of, the facility owner or operator must have a representative sample of the waste analyzed. The analysis must contain all of the information that the facility needs to know to properly handle the waste. In addition, the analysis must be repeated whenever the facility owner or operator becomes aware that there has been a change in the process that produces the waste, or whenever the owner or operator learns that a change in the makeup of the waste has been detected.
The owner or operator must ensure that each hazardous waste shipment received at the facility matches the waste described on the accompanying paperwork. The RCRA regulations pertaining to waste analysis are found at 40 CFR 264.13.
