Air Emission Standards for Equipment Leaks
Hazardous volatile compounds can also leak from equipment, piping, and other parts of a waste management system. To combat this problem, the RCRA regulations require specific schedules of leak monitoring and inspection. In addition, owners and operators must immediately make repairs to components such as pumps, compressors, pressure valves, sampling connection systems, open-ended valves or lines, and other system elements. These regulations apply specifically to equipment that either contains or contacts hazardous waste that has at least 10 percent by weight of VOCs.
