Universal Waste Destination Facilities
Facilities that treat, dispose of, or recycle universal waste are called universal waste destination facilities. At this stage, except for two additional requirements, the universal waste is subject to all of the RCRA regulations that we have discussed prior to this unit of the course. As you have learned, these regulations include the following:
- Permit requirements
- General facility standards
- Unit-specific standards (for example, the regulations that apply to combustion devices)
The two additional requirements that pertain specifically to universal waste are as follows:
- Procedures for rejecting shipments of universal waste
- Documentation of the receipt of universal waste
