Examples of P- & U-Listed Wastes

P-listed wastes and U-listed wastes are both types of discarded commercial chemical products that are considered hazardous.

P-listed wastes include discarded commercial chemical products that are acute hazardous wastes. The P-list may be found in the RCRA regulations at 40 CFR 261.33. A few examples of P-listed wastes include the following:

  • Arsenic trioxide
  • Calcium cyanide
  • Fluorine

U-listed wastes include discarded commercial chemical products that are hazardous wastes. The U-list may be found in the RCRA regulations at 40 CFR 261.33. A few examples of U-listed wastes include the following:

  • Acetone
  • Methyl bromide
  • Formaldehyde
