Labeling Hazardous Waste for Transport
It is the responsibility of the generator of hazardous waste to properly package, label, mark, and place placards on hazardous waste shipments. When a transporter transports hazardous waste that they did not generate themselves, and if they are the initial transporter, they must be sure that they receive the appropriate placards from the generator of the hazardous waste. The transporters must ensure that the placards are durable enough to withstand wind and weather during transport.
