Permit Exemptions & Partial Requirements

Some types of TSDFs are exempt from RCRA permitting requirements. For example, an RCRA permit is not required for a storage unit in which a generator accumulates waste on-site for less than 90 days, provided that certain rules are met.

In other cases, one part of a process may not require an RCRA permit, but another will. For example, a hazardous waste recycling process, such as the blending of reclaimed solvents, does not require a permit, but the storage of the materials before they are recycled does.
