Attachment 2, Steps 1 & 2
Attachment 2 provides the step-by-step guide to preparing hazardous materials for military air shipment. The attachment lists 10 steps in the process.
Step 1 - Training: you must make sure that you are properly trained and qualified according to 1.3 and Attachment 25. For preparers, they must comply with 1.2.4 for authorization to certify.
Step 2 - Identify Material: you must determine if a material is hazardous and if so, its appropriate hazard classification by using these resources:
- Hazardous Material Information Resource System (HMIRS)
- Safety Data Sheets SDSs) for the products
- Manufacturer's information
- Joint Hazardous Classification System (JHCS) or Service Technical Directives
