Labels - Class 7 & 8

For Class 7 radioactive materials, label each package on opposite sides with the "Radioactive" label.

The proper label to use is based on the radiation level at the surface of the package and a value called the Transport Index (TI). Refer to A15.4.6 for more information.

For Class 8 Corrosive materials, wet-cell batteries prepared and certified according to A12.4 must have package orientation labels to indicate the proper upright position (top) of the container, if not already marked on the container (A14.3.6).

For Chemical Kits or First Aid Kits prepared according to A12.6, label packages with the primary hazard label and subsidiary hazard labels applicable to each individual hazard in the kit.

Packages displaying a Class 8 label do not need a Division 6.1 subsidiary hazard label if the toxicity of the material is based solely on the corrosive destruction of tissue rather than systematic poisoning.
