Shipments that Involve Permits, CAAs,COE
For shipments that involve permits, CAAs, and or COEs, refer to A14.3.5. Mark each package authorized by a DOT Special Permit or a COE with permit or COE number.
CAAs must be marked with the approval number in association with the PSN and UN ID, if the CAA requires. A package marked with a DOT Exemption number (such as DOT-E-4368) can be used instead of a Special Permit number, provided that the use is allowed by the accompanying Special Permit document required by paragraph 2.4. For uninterrupted international transportation outside of military installations shipments may require additional approvals beyond DOT special permits.
Refer to A14.3.6 for marking containers as "Air Eligible" in various situations, such as liquid hazardous materials or overpacks.
