Shipping Dangerous Goods - Excepted Quantities
A17.4.3 addresses shipments of excepted quantities of hazardous materials. A Shipper's Declaration For Dangerous Goods form is not required if excepted quantities are prepared according to A19.2.
Annotate the shipping papers with "Dangerous Goods In Excepted Quantities" and use a "Dangerous Goods In Excepted Quantities Label" (as required by A19.2.3). Passenger restrictions do not apply to items in excepted quantities.
When use of a hazard class label (or labels) is exempted by a DOT Special Permit (DOT-SP) for a domestic shipment, add the following statement in Field 19: "Hazard Class Label (or Labels) exempted by DOT-SPXXXX" where XXXX is the DOT exemption number. See the Key 19 description under Table A17.1.
