Specific Packaging Requirements - Attachment 4

Attachment 4 contains an alphabetical listing of the hazardous materials, which are subject to the requirements of this manual. A3.1.16 provides information on material determined to be non-hazardous.

This attachment also describes the classification criteria for hazard classes, identification of items prohibited for military air transportation, and listing of hazardous substances and applicable reportable quantities.

Figure A4.1 lists all hazard classes and division numbers. Hazardous materials are grouped according to hazard classes. Classes can also be sub-grouped into divisions. So, the hazard class and division is a numerical identification system that describes the class (type) of primary hazard involved, and if appropriate its division within the class.

Use the Hazardous Material Information Resource System (HMIRS), product Safety Data Sheet (SDS), or other manufacturer's information to help determine the hazard class, if needed.
