Exceptions - MOT

§173.6 provides exceptions for Materials of Trade (MOT) transported by motor vehicle. To qualify for the MOT exception, the materials must:

Be less than the quantity limitations outlined in §173.6(a).
Not exceed 200 kg (except for a diluted mixture of Class 9 material)
Be packaged in the manufacturer's original packaging or a packaging of equal or greater strength
Be leak tight for liquids and gases, sift proof for solids, and securely closed, secured against movement, and protected against damage

In addition, you must inform the vehicle operator of the presence of the hazardous materials, including the reportable quantity, if applicable.
