HMR

Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), Parts 100 through 185, govern the transportation of hazardous materials. The Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR) are found in Parts 171 through 180. The HMR set forth standards for classification, packaging, hazard communication, emergency response information, training of HAZMAT employees, transportation, incident reporting, and security. Everyone involved in the transportation of hazardous materials must be familiar with, and have current knowledge of, the HMR.

It is important to ensure that you are always using the most recent guidelines and regulations when preparing goods for transport. Regulations and guidelines are constantly evolving regarding to the transport of hazardous materials. In 2018 the HMR began incorporating by reference publications issued by the Compressed Gas Association (CGA), the Chlorine Institute, and the Department of Defense (DoD).
