Medium Lithium Batteries

The guidelines for shipping medium batteries are as follows:

• Medium lithium-ion batteries that are not packed with equipment and are shipped via ground are limited to 30 kilograms in gross weight.
• Medium lithium-ion batteries that are packed with equipment and are shipped via ground must be placed in the same package as the equipment with the battery uninstalled.
• Medium lithium-ion batteries that are contained in equipment and shipped via ground must contain no more than four cells or two batteries installed per package. The battery must be installed in the equipment.
• Medium lithium-ion batteries contained in equipment that are shipped via ground must contain no more than four cells or two batteries per package. The battery must be installed in the equipment.
• Medium lithium-metal batteries that are not packed with equipment and are shipped via ground must not exceed 30 kilograms in weight.
• Medium lithium-metal batteries that are packed with equipment and shipped via ground must be shipped in the same package as the equipment with the battery uninstalled.
• Medium lithium-metal batteries that are contained in equipment and shipped via ground must contain no more than four cells or two batteries installed per package. Batteries must be installed in the equipment.
