Cargo Acceptance - Checklists
Most operators and shippers develop their own acceptance and preparation checklists that meet the requirements of the DGR. An acceptance checklist must include all reasonable steps to ensure the following:
- Packages, overpacks, or freight containers are correctly marked and labeled.
- The package complies with the correct packing instruction and is free from damage and leakage.
- The Shipper's Declaration or alternative documentation is correctly completed.
- The acceptance requirements listed in DGR 9.1.1 and any compatibility requirements have been met.
Sample checklists are provided in the DGR and can be used for the acceptance of dangerous goods.
Although acceptance checks are only mandatory when dangerous goods are first accepted for carriage by air, operators of any subsequent aircraft used as part of the same journey should verify that the packages, overpacks, freight containers, and unit load devices continue to meet the requirements of the Regulations.
