Cargo Acceptance - Multiple Hazards

Some dangerous goods meet the classification criteria for more than one class or division. When an article or substance has multiple hazards, it is assigned a primary and subsidiary class.

The articles and substances that meet the hazard criteria for the following classes and divisions take precedence over any other:

• Class 1, 2, and 7 (see 3.10.3 for more information)
• Class 3: Liquid desensitized explosives
• Division 4.1: Self-reactive and related substances, solid desensitized explosives
• Division 4.2: Pyrophoric substances
• Divisions 5.1 and 6.2
• Division 6.1: Substances in Packing Group 1 for inhalation toxicity (see 3.10.2 for more information)

DGR Table 3.10.A lists the precedence of hazards when the two hazards fall into Classes 3, 4, or 8 or Divisions 5.1 or 6.1. The primary hazard and packing group is indicated in the table, and the most stringent packing group is selected.
