IATA Cabin Crew & Passenger Security - Contaminated Handling

If any cargo or baggage has been contaminated or is suspected of contamination from a dangerous good, the operator staff must take reasonable steps to identify the nature and source of the contamination before loading the contaminated cargo or baggage. If dangerous goods contamination has been confirmed, the operator must isolate the cargo or baggage and take the appropriate steps to nullify any identified hazards.

Reporting undeclared or misdeclared dangerous goods is required so that the proper authorities can take action to prevent a recurrence of the offense.
