IATA Cabin Crew & Passenger Security - Markings
For each package containing dangerous goods, the shipper is responsible for the following:
- Checking that relevant markings are in the correct location on the package and meet the quality and specification requirements in the DGR
- Ensuring that each outer or single packaging bears the proper specification marking
- Removing or obliterating any irrelevant markings already on the package or overpack
- Ensuring that all required markings have been applied when the package or overpack is presented to the operator
There are two types of markings for dangerous goods:
- UN specification markings
- Packaging use markings
