IATA Cabin Crew & Passenger Security - Markings

For each package containing dangerous goods, the shipper is responsible for the following:

• Checking that relevant markings are in the correct location on the package and meet the quality and specification requirements in the DGR
• Ensuring that each outer or single packaging bears the proper specification marking
• Removing or obliterating any irrelevant markings already on the package or overpack
• Ensuring that all required markings have been applied when the package or overpack is presented to the operator

There are two types of markings for dangerous goods:

• UN specification markings
• Packaging use markings
