Limited Quantity Packaging
Some types of dangerous goods present a reduced hazard when packed in small quantities in good quality packaging. The Limited Quantity provision provides exceptions for small quantities of certain dangerous goods, which are outlined in DGR 2.7.
Limited Quantity packagings are constructed of the same materials as UN specification packaging. However, instead of the UN testing requirements, limited quantity packagings are subject to a 4 feet drop test and a 24-hour stacking test, described in DGR 6.6.
A Shipper's Declaration of Dangerous Goods is required, and the package must be marked with the diamond-shaped Limited Quantity "Y" label, which indicates compliance with the DGR.
