Protection from Damage

Operators are responsible for protecting packages of dangerous goods from damage during transport. Damage may occur from the movement of baggage, mail, stores, or other cargo. It is particularly important to ensure that dangerous goods packages are handled properly during transport preparation so that accidental damage does not occur from mishandling.

Operators, freight forwarders, and cargo agents should also take measures to protect dangerous goods packages while they are in the warehouse prior to, during, and following acceptance.
