Changes to the 62nd Edition
Every year, IATA publishes a new edition of the DGR that incorporates all amendments made by the Dangerous Goods Board and includes all addenda issued to the last edition of the ICAO Technical Instructions. The 62nd Edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations is valid from January 2021 through December 2021.
Some examples of the significant changes to the 62nd Edition of the DGR are:
- Passengers are now allowed to carry up to 2 spare batteries to power mobility aids.
- Battery descriptions and allowances now include nickel-metal hydride and dry batteries.
- A new UN number has been introduced to address Category A infectious waste.
- Lithium Battery mark sizes have been adjusted.
Review the Significant Changes and Amendments to the 62nd Edition (2021) section in the Introduction of the DGR for a full list of changes. The list is not all-inclusive, but it highlights the main changes made.
All changes to the 62nd Edition are noted in the manual in the margin or at the beginning of the section with one of the following symbols:
- #9633; - Addition of a new item
- ▵ - Change to an item
- ⊗ - Cancellation of an item
