HAZMAT Class 5 Oxidizing Substances & Organic Peroxides - Packing

Some organic peroxides require temperature controls. They should be protected from direct sunlight and heat sources and adequately ventilated when they are handled, stored, and transported.

Some organic peroxides decompose explosively, especially when they are confined. These substances must be modified through desensitization, or they need to be packaged to reduce the explosive characteristics. Organic peroxides are desensitized by adding organic liquids or solids, inorganic solids, or water to ensure safe transport.

Specific packing instructions are listed in Section 4.2 - List of Dangerous Goods and can be found in Section 5.5. The packing instruction numbers are in the 500 range.
