Corrosives are substances, which by chemical action, can cause severe damage when in contact with living tissue or, in the case of leakage, will materially damage or destroy other goods or the means of transport.

Primary Hazards

The primary hazards for Class 8 substances include the following:

Inhalation may be harmful.
Contact may burn skin and eyes.
Fire may produce irritating or toxic gases.
Liquid vapors may cause dizziness or suffocation.
Corrosives can impair the structural integrity of metal surfaces.
