How to Use the DGR

The DGR includes an extensive Table of Contents and List of Figures and Tables that should assist you in quickly locating information. The Index, Index of Tables and Figures, and Bibliography are located in the back of the book.

The DGR is organized into 10 sections and Appendices A-H. The sections of the DGR include the following:

The eight appendices include the following:

  • Appendix A: Glossary - defines terms used in the DGR
  • Appendix B: Nomenclature - defines units of measurement, symbols and abbreviations, and conversion factors
  • Appendix C: Currently Assigned Substances - lists self-reactive substances from Division 4.1 and organic peroxides from Division 5.2
  • Appendix D: Competent Authorities - lists authorities by country responsible for dangerous goods and those responsible for radioactive materials
  • Appendix E: Packaging Testing Facilities, Manufacturers, and Suppliers - lists UN specification packaging suppliers by country, packaging testing facilities by country, and UN specifications packaging
  • Appendix F: Related Services - lists publications and training materials, electronic services, sales agents, IATA Dangerous Goods Accredited Training Schools, and IATA and FIATA Dangerous Goods Authorized Training Centers
  • Appendix G: IATA Safety Standards Programs - lists the IATA Dangerous Goods Board, Dangerous Goods Training Working Group, IATA Airline Operator Dangerous Goods Training Validation Program, and IATA Global Aviation Data Management GADM Programs
  • Appendix H: Training Provisions under the Competency-Based Training Approach - explains the new approach to training and testing for ICAO and IATA provisions.
  • Appendix I: Impending Changes - lists the forthcoming changes of the ICAO Technical Instructions. Upon finalization these changes will be incorporated into the next edition of the DGR.
