Subsection 8.2 - Air Waybill
Air Waybills are completed for the air transport of all goods. These forms function as a contract between the shipper and operator for the carriage of goods. In addition, they provide evidence of receipt of goods. The instructions covered in the DGR are only for the completion of the dangerous goods portion of an Air Waybill. Full Air Waybill instructions can be found in "The Air Cargo Tariff (TACT) Manual Rules" or in Cargo Services Conference (CSC) Resolution 600(a).
Air Waybills that accompany dangerous goods consignment for which a dangerous goods declaration is required must include the following statements in the Handling Information box:
- "Dangerous goods as per associated Shipper's Declaration" or "Dangerous Goods as per associated DGD"
- "Cargo Aircraft Only" or "CAO"
If a Shipper's Declaration is not required, the "Nature and Quantity of Goods" box must show the following information:
- UN or ID number
- Proper shipping name
- Number of packages (unless these are the only packages within the consignment)
- Net quantity per package (only required for UN 1845)
Review the example Air Waybills in Subsection 8.2.7.
