Class 2 Gases
The next class listed in Part 2 is Class 2, Gases. In this chapter, the word "toxic" is considered to have the same meaning as "poisonous." A gas is substance that meets the following air pressure criteria:
At 50 degrees Centigrade, has a vapor pressure greater than 300 kPa
OR
Is completely gaseous at 20 degrees Centigrade, at a standard pressure of 101.3 kPa
In Subsection 2.2.1.2, several different types of physical states are described for gas, including compressed, liquefied, refrigerated liquefied, and others. The chemical properties and physiological effects of different gases can make their characteristics highly variable. Proper transport procedures can be critical in avoiding fire hazards and injury to personnel.
