Class 4 - Flammable Solids
The next class of dangerous goods listed in Part 2 is Class 4, Flammable Solids. This group includes substances that are liable to spontaneous combustion and those that emit flammable gases when in contact with water. Class 4 is divided into three divisions, as follows:
- Class 4.1 - Flammable solids, self-reactive substances, solid desensitized explosives, and polymerizing substances
- Class 4.2 - Substances liable to spontaneous combustion
- Class 4.3 - Substances which, in contact with water, emit flammable gases
All of the Class 4 divisions deal with substances that burn easily or can cause or contribute to a fire.
