Class 6 - Toxic & Infectious Substances
The next class listed in Part 2 is Class 6, Toxic and Infectious Substances. Toxic substances are poisonous and likely to cause death or serious injury to human health by skin contact or if swallowed or inhaled. These substances are placed in the division Class 6.1. This division also includes toxins from plant, animal, or bacterial sources that do not contain any infectious substances. A second division, Class 6.2, covers substances known to or likely to contain micro-organisms, known as "pathogens," that can cause disease in humans or animals. We will take a closer look at each of these divisions now.
