Class 8 Packing Groups
Three packing groups, designated I, II, and III, are assigned to Class 8 substances. The packing group for a specific substance is found in the DGL. The first packing group, I, is used for the most dangerous substances and preparations. Packing groups II and III are used for medium danger and minor danger substances and preparations respectively. The danger referred to in these designations is measured by the amount of time it takes for the substance to eat through the full thickness of intact skin.
