Class 9 - Miscellaneous Dangerous Substances and Articles and Environmentally Hazardous Substances
The final class of dangerous goods provided in Part 2 is Class 9 - Miscellaneous Dangerous Substances and Articles and Environmentally Hazardous Substances. These are substances and articles included in this class are those which during transport pose a danger during transport that is not covered by any of the other eight classes. A full list is given under 2.9.2.2. This list includes such goods as asbestos, polymeric beads, and lithium batteries. It also includes genetically modified organisms and micro-organisms, dry ice, battery-powered vehicles, and castor beans. In contrast to goods in the other classes, most of the substances and articles found in class 9 do not share similarities other than that of being otherwise unclassifiable. For example, two groups covered in Class 9 are substances that are dangerous to the aquatic environment and lithium batteries.
